The chess results server announcement doesn't seem to quite tally with the official website which has the top section as U-2300. I only mention this because Mike knew all the top players who may well have played in this tournament out of respect for him so it seems an odd decision.

I'm pleased that the inaugural event will take place on St. George's day!

The official website refers to an open at the top but an U2300 lower down. When you click on the enter now though it also says open so hopefully all those wanting to play, can do.

I think you mean it refers to the U2300 (with no mention of an Open section) at the top and an Open lower down (with no mention of an U-2300 section) so I'm not so confident there are two sections, my guess is that there is no U-2300 section, which would be good, in general, I really have an issue with stars-barred events which ban good players like yourself Loz from playing, but I'm sure the organisers will clarify in due course.

No, for once I meant what I said. The second line on the page says:
"5 Round Swiss, Time control: 20'+5", Sections : Open, U2000, U1500, Juniors Sections : U12, U10, U8"

I sent a Facebook message to one of the organisers/arbiters but agree that it's almost certainly an open.

The top section is indeed and Open, and there's no u-2300.

Thanks Loz for messaging the organisers. I'll be meeting up with Anuurai in a couple of hours and we'll make sure everything is clarified.

The Open looks pretty weak so far...

Does anyone know whether it is possible to park near the venue? I couldn't see on the website

From Google Earth, the school itself has loads of parking, but this of course assumes they will let you park there... Otherwise, annoy the residents (who doubtless get annoyed Monday-Friday) and park in the road.
