Re: UK Blitz 2022
I played the Midlands one yesterday. Venue and staff at the Holiday Inn were great. Organizers were great. Some opponents were sufficiently disrespectful to take my pieces and/or point out flag-fall, but I cannot really complain about that...
It was good to catch up with old friends and hopefully meet new ones. e.g., I have played 123 games against Nigel Towers online and at last met him in real life. Sadly, Ben Graff and I did not have time to set up a table and sign books for eager customers.
Although it was good to see a lot of more senior players on the top boards, there were some rather good young ones. I assumed Billy Fellowes would just lose when we got to an ending, but he played it really well, so I think he has a bright future. I hope this is not "commentator's curse" or putting too much pressure on him.
Congratulations to the qualifiers.

Re: UK Blitz 2022
It appears that 3 qualified from the South West, making 17 qualifiers in all; is that correct?
