Although it doesn't affect the players named, the seeding order given on the ECF website is wrong. The tournament rules say the seeding order is higher of ECF/FIDE rating which significantly changes the seeding below the top few players in each event.Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 4:31 pmIn the Over 50, the top three seeds are Mark Hebden, Keith Arkell and Andrew Ledger, whilst the Over 65 has Paul Littlewood.

The tournaments start tomorrow.
Seemingly the seeding order is the higher pf ECF rating and FIDE rating.

Congratulations to the Forum's Roger De Coverly on being co-leader of the over-65s with 2/2!
Congratulations to the Forum's Tim Spanton on drawing with top seeded IM Paul Littlewood
in round one of the over-65s!
Congratulations to the Forum's Ian Thompson on drawing with GM Keith Arkell in round two of the over-50s!
This trio appear to be the only Forumites competing, so it seems the Forum makes you a better player.....

Re: English Senior Championships 2022
From the Tournament Regulations:
"Players must be born in England or have lived in England for at least the preceding 12 months. In addition, if they have a FIDE registration, it must be ENG."
So why has Anthony Earlam of Barbados (BAR) been allowed to play in the "Over 65" section?

A bit of violence from today's game against Bowmer.
It's the obvious idea, but needs a little proof to show that it works.
Blsck's previous had been Qc7-d8.

More violence from Round 1. Black is much better, but the next move forces immediate resignation.

How long does one need to go without contributing to the forum before not being considered a forumite?

Re: English Senior Championships 2022
Some of us still think of Keith, only yesterday I emailed one of the competitors to tell him about a victory in the "Arkell Ending". (R+B vs R for the uninitiated).
