ECF Charity Marathon for Ukraine
I think this is worth a mention.

I am hoping to improve on my 0-15 record against Keith Arkell, but fear that I will probably progress to nearer the next tennis score...

ECF Charity Marathon for Ukraine
"The English Chess Federation is holding a 24-hour chess marathon in support of the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal via the British Red Cross. Chess.com will host the online marathon from 5.00 pm on Saturday 2nd April to 5.00pm on Sunday 3rd April."
More details can be found here: https://www.englishchess.org.uk/ecf-cha ... r-ukraine/
Plenty of streaming by titled and not titled players, I assume here: https://www.twitch.tv/ecf_commentary
If you wish to donate (without entering): https://tiltify.com/british-red-cross/e ... s-marathon

Re: ECF Charity Marathon for Ukraine
i saw Tom Rendle's post earlier today, and a request to move it. I would just like to make the point that whilst tidiness and reduced duplication can be a good thing, in this instance I feel the admins should have allowed the duplication to remain to give maximum exposure to the event and cause. It took me several minutes to find the merged thread as I wasn't expecting it to be in this congress diary section at all. Indeed that may have been why Tom posted where he did this morning. Perhaps we need the heading of the thread to be retained in the original place with 'see Congress Diary' in the body of the text?

If the moderators had taken the same view, they could have left the two threads.J T Melsom wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 4:19 pmi saw Tom Rendle's post earlier today, and a request to move it. They could also have put the merged thread in ECF Matters rather than in Congress Diary
I always use Active Topics to find new things. It took me about 10 seconds to find your comments.

I've never used Active Topics. It should never be assumed that those using a forum regularly or intermittently use it the same way as you or I.
No harm in your original proposal but I'm just not sure the outcome is best for drawing the event to people's attention. 'complaint' seems a little over- dramatic.

I have edited the post.
That is your privilege. I was trying to make a helpful suggestion that would have saved you considerable time.

I'm certainly intending to play for most of the 24 hours again, in an attempt to beat my score of 655 points from last year.Kevin Thurlow wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 6:52 pmI think this is worth a mention.

I'm sure you'll get me one of these times, Kevin, and then you'll be able to say: ''Nobody beats Kevin Thurlow -- -- times in a row'' , calling on the memorable words of Vitas Gerulaitis after he finally beat Jimmy Connors

I'm watching twitch. I've signed up and donated, but have given up trying to get in and play.

I expect Keith must have pretty much wrapped it up already. Did he stay up all night then? When, oh when, will he act his age?Kevin Thurlow wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 12:33 pmAnd some time yesterday, it reached Thurlow 0-16 Arkell
