Over the Board Returns 2 - Oxford - June 26-27th
Hi everyone,
Subject to the government lifting the pandemic rules on June 21st (which is far for guaranteed), I will be accepting adult registration for my next OtB event in Oxford on June 26-27th. In the meantime, adults are welcome to pre-register.
5 round, 60+30 ECF rated. £25 entry fee, discounted to £10 for players 1950+

This sounds great, but unless Crete is suddenly added to the green list, I will be unable to attend

Yes indeed, I haven't looked at the rules in details.

Event filling up nicely, with 2.5 weeks to go. Please share with juniors and adults interested in some standard OtB chess.
List of entrant: https://www.vegaresult.com/vega-trn/index.php?id=581
Currently 17, ranging from 900 to 1900
List of pre-registrations (6): https://www.vegaresult.com/vega-trn/index.php?id=582
Currently 6, ranging from 1000 (est.) to 2200
Currently nobody can guess whether the rules will be relaxed on June 21st, allowing adult participation to the event. Cross fingers the vaccination overcomes the Delta variant and we can provide some OtB to adults sooner rather than later.

You suggest the two are connected, which is a big assumption.Wadih Khoury wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 6:34 pmCross fingers the vaccination overcomes the Delta variant and we can provide some OtB to adults sooner rather than later.

Given the government decision to keep the Phase 3 rules in place for an additional 4 weeks, I will not be able to accept adults to the event on the 26th-27th.
It will therefore remain an U18 standard event, with the same protocols as the first edition.

I am please to say that the event went very well. I had even entrants from as far as Leeds who enjoyed the return to over the board conditions.
The tournament had its lot of surprises, blunders, brilliancies and hard fought endgames.
On the downside I had a few valid last minute cancellations (children with fever and/or flagged as trace contacts)
All the details are below (on mobile you may need to click on the home icon to get access to results and pairings)
Section A: https://www.vegaresult.com/vega-trn/index.php?id=594
Section B: https://www.vegaresult.com/vega-trn/index.php?id=595
I will be organising another tournament: open to all (unless the government changes again the roadmap), FIDE and ECF rated in August (likely on August 7/8). I hope to put online the registration form once I get venue confirmation.
