Did they say what security measures will be taken?
Cameras? Microphones? Screen sharing?

At this stage, no more than
Are the detailed regulations likely to resolve the "who is in charge" issues? In other words will competitors be subject to the undocumented chess.com banning process as well as any possible action by the ECF?Detailed Competition Regulations will be issued shortly including details of Arbiter Arrangements.
ECF Online Fair Play regulations at all times with tournament specific rules.

I understand that that question will be answered, but I won't speculate as to the answer.Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Wed Nov 04, 2020 11:47 amAre the detailed regulations likely to resolve the "who is in charge" issues? Oh dear - cannot play as I am working. How much to enter, spectate, etc? I suppose they want us to promote.

It would be great if we could get the security details sooner rather than later in order to provide feedback.
In my opinion, for an event the calibre of the British, it would not be acceptable to not have audio/video/screen recording of the players.
After all, the that is the standard FIDE is setting up for the World online junior championship (http://www.world2020.ge/), and what the French did for their online version of the junior championship.
In England we already have organisers who are familiar with setting up zoom rooms and record the players.

Although there is no sponsor or prize money I hope that it will be a success even if the strength of the tournaments may be relatively modest.Wadih Khoury wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 7:43 amIt would be great if we could get the security details sooner rather than later in order to provide feedback.

Yes but they are trivialities. The thing that will make or break the tournament is whether trays of cheese sandwiches will be available during the games. It's that which gets the punters in.LawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 8:01 amAlthough there is no sponsor or prize money I hope that it will be a success even if the strength of the tournaments may be relatively modest.Wadih Khoury wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 7:43 amIt would be great if we could get the security details sooner rather than later in order to provide feedback.

The ECF eNewsletter announces that generous sponsorship has been obtained from software firm Caplin:LawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 8:01 amAlthough there is no sponsor or prize money I hope that it will be a success even if the strength of the tournaments may be relatively modest.Wadih Khoury wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 7:43 amIt would be great if we could get the security details sooner rather than later in order to provide feedback.

"Caplin British Online Chess Championships
Here’s some festive cheer for Christmas and New Year. The ECF is running the Caplin British Online Chess Championships 2020/2021 from 18th December 2020 to 3rd January 2021 on the Chess.com platform. We are very grateful for the generous support of Caplin Systems, a London based software company serving banks around the world with desktop and mobile financial trading technology. This sponsorship extends their involvement in chess, which started with their support of the Hastings International Congress last year. This is very much appreciated and has allowed us to provide significantly enhanced Junior and Women’s events."

I have a question. The categories outlined, are they using the rating on chess.com or are they the ECF ratings?

I had assumed FIDE but now that the ECF are using 4 digit ratings then I suspect it could be those.MJMcCready wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 11:36 pmI have a question. The categories outlined, are they using the rating on chess.com or are they the ECF ratings?

Lawrence, you were right the first time.MJMcCready wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 11:36 pmI had assumed FIDE but now that the ECF are using 4 digit ratings then I suspect it could be those.
I have been informed that the Tournament Regulations, to be published shortly, stipulate that the FIDE Ratings of 1st December will apply, or the ECF Ratings of 1st December for players without FIDE Ratings.
