Re: British Championship 2023
For Hebden vs Adams I honestly would say the chances of a win and a draw are about even... maybe v slight edge for Adams win.
I reckon chance of Hebden win about 10%.

They met a couple of times in 2010. In the 4NCL it was Rudd v Shaw with a win for Black. At the British in Canterbury, colours were reversed and this time Jack won.

That's an expected score for me of 0.75, which is roughly in line with the rating difference.

Re: British Championship 2023
I honestly do think there's more chance of a Shaw draw than the rating difference suggests...
I'm prob going out but will look over it later for sure...

Re: British Championship 2023
I make 2/3 predictions and I think that I win outright - we must play again!
So now we have two leaders, each of them wanting Nick Pert (3= with Hebden on 4.5/6) to play the other first, so that either Nick makes a result, or that if he doesn't, they themselves might get away without playing him. It seems to me that it must be Adams who plays him; but with White, and I don't know whether Nick has ever held Adams with black - generally, Black against 1 e4 does not seem to be his forte.

I remember him holding him easily Black in a Rossolimo at a British, quite a few years back. I think he already had a slight edge when he took the draw.

I just checked and that was Canterbury 2010. He also held him in Hull, 2018 - but there he was under a lot of pressure.

In Hebden - Adams, why wasn't 28...d2 towards the end just an immediate win?

It looks as though it was. I was in the commentary room and they suggested 28…Qd5, to allow black to escape the perpetual check.

Re: British Championship 2023
Today, I will predict white wins on 1 & 3 and draw on 2. Apologies if this jinxes any of the players.
