It's now in the ECF calendar as 5th to 8th May 2022 which avoids the clash with the final 4NCL weekend. It's still TBA as far as the venue is concerned. On April 28th to May 1st there's the English Seniors Championship.

According to the schedule, yes.Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 1:22 pmIs there an intention to run the Women's Championship as a stand alone event?

That was also the case in 2016-19.NickFaulks wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 1:34 pmAccording to the schedule, yes.Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 1:22 pmIs there an intention to run the Women's Championship as a stand alone event?

Re: ECF Events 2022
There was an English Championsip, but no separate event for the British Women's title until 2021, the award going to the highest placed eligible player in the main Championship which in 2019 was Jovanka Houska who finished equal fifth.

The seniors event is now looking at alternative datesRoger de Coverly wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 1:22 pmThere's some events been added to the ECF calendar in the name of the ECF.
On April 28th to May 1st there's the English Seniors Championship. I cannot help but thinking that this is one of the worse possible dates that could have been chosen given that many of the potential entrants are also long standing members of 4NCL squads likely to be fighting tooth and nail to retain their places in higher divisions. 4NCL final weekend is scheduled as usual for the Bank Holiday weekend April 30th to May 2nd.

On March 18th to March 21st (or possibly April 15th to April18th (Easter)) there are what are termed
English Open Standardplay Championship Qualifier and
English Women’s Standardplay Championship Qualifier
Further down the ECF calendar it's revealed what events these are qualifiers for.
English Standardplay Championships and British Major Open @ TBC
May 21 – May 25 all-day
English Women’s Championship Final @ TBC
May 21 – May 25 all-day
That's starting on a Saturday and running through to the following Wednesday. The proposed number of rounds isn't stated.
Bank holidays are
Spring Bank Holiday Thu, 2 Jun 2022
Platinum Jubilee bank holiday Fri, 3 Jun 2022
One might speculate what head count and standard of entry is required to necessitate a qualifier and final structure. Eleewhere in OTB chess, the problem of maintaining rating standards in the top section has been dealt with by the devices of holding parallel rating limited sections and by having differential entry fees. Some organisers have even adopted the deplorable policy of denying rating prizes to lower rated players.
The pther questopn that comes to mind is the relationship with the parallel Major Open. There was always a proposal that a one-off Major Open would be needed to enable players not already qualified to secure a place in the Torquay British Championship. But what of participants in the English Championship events.ratin
I see a certain replication of last year's online structure. But was the restriction in numbers required by a qualifier and final structure required by the online need for a high level of arbiter supervision? Are we talking APA events though? For the men's event, if restricted to ten players, most of the candidates would likely regard competing in a qualifier beneath their dignity and expect automatic qualification. They would also no doubt like expenses, so finance comes out of general funds or sponsorship rather from aggregate entry fees as usually applies at the British Championships.

Re: ECF Events 2022
There was an obvious error here, If the dates are 19 May to 22 May, it could not be 7 rounds over 5 days.Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 2:39 pmEnglish Women’s Standardplay Championships and

Re: ECF Events 2022
Do we know what the "qualifier" events are for?
Not for the championship as it is not listed in the qualification rules.
And I would assume the open is open?
