Re: Irrational Chess
I see he uses the Stean - Browne game from the 1974 Olympiad. I think of the opening of that, or rather the start of the middlegame when Stean sacrifices on e6 as being preparation. Stean had after all written a book on the Najdorf in that era.John Upham wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 12:14 pmRichard James has reviewed Irrational Chess

I wonder whether he also featured the Basman - Stean game from a Hastings of that period. That's the one that started 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. Be2 Nf6 4. c3 . Perhaps it's not irrational but only logical by a Basman frame of reference.

No sign at all of Basman in there, perhaps unexpectedly.Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 12:32 pmI see he uses the Stean - Browne game from the 1974 Olympiad. Re: Irrational Chess
Was just going to ask, is it as verbally incontinent as Lakdawala's usual output?

The review seems to say that it's much the same stylistically as his normal output, yes.
