I do believe the author is a contributor here.

Apart from avoiding the Traxler, I note the book also steers clear of the Latvian/Elephant Gambits.

Computers really have put some openings almost out of business haven't they?

I was surprised about the Latvian since x...f5 appears to be a book theme.

This book commissions lines that were not so well thought of rather than decommission them.

The Wagenbach Defence is an example of this.

It's just my pet lines really. I've only played the Latvian and Elephant very occasionally. In any case, if I'd done either of those, there'd be no need for two thirds of the book ;)

Slightly disappointing we cannot add him to the list of celebrity chess players, for which I have to blame Jon.

I'd imagine Gandalf would insist on being White.
