I can think of worse uses for the ECF's renewal freebie.
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a QR code stamped on a human face — forever.

Ok, suppose somebody has to ask this - how many R+B v R endings are in it? ;)
And were any against me?
Lawrence might want to tear page 89 out of his copy...

"Lawrence might want to tear page 89 out of his copy..."

Lawrence may feel slightly better that it is only a comment that he's won it against you 3 times, not one of the actual games. Admittedly, his annotations are generally fairly friendly, Keith isn't the sort of guy to make abusive comments about someone for making an imperfect move. The book only arrived a couple of hours ago, but it looks good.

I think this is going to be a great way to spend the next few months!

You can order the book here - https://www.gingergm.com/ref/106.html and full disclosure, if you do, I will earn a commission.

I thoroughly recommend anything by Simon Williams, and Danny Gormally is becoming a really interesting author.

Adam,

I tried this link but it doesn't appear to work - gives me a 404 page missing error. If i search for the book from that page and buy it, does it still generate a commission for you?

Dear All
I only know Keith Arkell by sight we have never exchanged more than a polite word of recognition, and a few emails.
My average grade is about ECF 140.
I have perused numerous chess books, but none left me with a pressing urge to go back to them on a regular basis except “Logical Chess Move by Move”, and “Arkell’s Endings”.
“Arkell’s Endings” taught me that patience is a word I need to bring into my game.
I normally open with e4 with a sac a pawn and attack attitude.
Keith opens with d4, he seeks equality and is then prepared to grind opponents down taking as long as it takes and as many moves as it takes to achieve a result.
I always thought King and Rook versus King and Knight was a draw.
Keith describes this as a knight snaring opportunity.
For Keith, a “backward pawn” on a semi open file in a pawn majority situation is a strategic game winning circumstance.
Keith’s narrative clarifies the minutia involved in his thought processes.
I feel my game has been enhanced by this book.
Keith also knows a bit about football.
Cheers
Alan Ruffle
