Re: Basic Chess
There's a review here which you may or may not choose entirely to believe
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Re: Basic Chess
The notation used for the 2021 edition is short-form (non-figurine) English algebraic such asJustinHorton wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 12:55 pmThere's a review here which you may or may not choose entirely to believe
19. Rad1! Qxf3? 20.Rxe7+! Nxe7? 21.Qxd7+!! Kxd7 22.Bf5++ Ke8
and looks perfectly understandable to me. I doubt if the content of the edition referenced by the review is any different to the content of the edition reviewed by myself since nothing has been updated apart from the cover and the edition date.
The review from "Anonymous" does not appear to be reliable.

Waterstones have https://www.waterstones.com/book/9780600637189
"Basic Chess is the book you need to master the game." may be optimistic, but they are trying to sell the book. I share Justin's suspicion of the review on the Barnes and Noble site.
