First blood to England anyway: I got the individual blitz title, taking down the 2 guys playing next to me just now - Plaskett and Ehlvest, in the last 2 rounds.

Cheers, Mick
And in case anyone is watching, John Emms v Joel Benjamin is still going ( about =), but the live feed has malfunctioned.

Cheers Keith; I had assumed that Emms had drawn, malfunctions are a pity
When I looked earlier I thought Speelman was worse, but he now looks better; seems like a close match

The moves from Emms-Benjamin are now showing, and it looks like a slaughter.
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a QR code stamped on a human face — forever.

Going less well so far: curious to see that Plaskett, to all appearances, has not faced the Petroff before.

Draw agreed.
It's been seen before up to move 8 when 9. Nf3 appears new. An engine reckons White is a little worse which may explain the draw offer. On move 6, you can take on f7, as tried by Zaitsev against Karpov in 1966 (!). Apparently it doesn't lead anywhere.
Looking at Jim's recorded game history, he's played the 3. d4 line before. He's actually played the Petroff more times than he's faced it.

Great save by Jon Speelman! I think 4 draws would leave us standing quite well.

Now 1.5-1.5 with Mark left. No doubt earlier he was expecting to have to win to save the match but now we would happily settle for a draw and 2-2.Keith Arkell wrote: ↑Wed Jul 11, 2018 11:44 amGreat save by Jon Speelman! I think 4 draws would leave us standing quite well.
