Great save by Jon Speelman! I think 4 draws would leave us standing quite well.
Yes, I should think so.

Credit to Emms (again) as well: Yusupov must have analysed those positions in some depth over the years, but John didn't seem to suffer much at all.

A note to anyone posting PGNs on this forum: they'll only work if the notation is in English. I've corrected the earlier one.

Great save to win the match by Roger Emerson in the World Seniles, after wins from Bellin & Berry. Two veterans at the end of a long game, out on their feet, and staggering about all over the place :-)

Third on tiebreak, but having played 2 of the best teams, so yes, agree with that

Round 6 pairings

Good luck tomorrow

"Looking at Jim's recorded game history, he's played the 3. d4 line before. He's actually played the Petroff more times than he's faced it."

He played 3.Nxe5 against me in 1976 and that worked quite well. 3.d4 is probably better.

There's some good stuff going on out there. Keep it up!

The key match today, as far as Eng 1 ( 50+) are concerned, is USA v Ger 1, because it will probably decide which of the 2 leading teams gets a very tough next round pairing...

Well done again today Keith

USA have beaten Germany 1; Lasker are going to beat Germany 2, so looks to me like USA v Lasker tomorrow, which we probably need USA not to lose

I think we might get Canada or Austria?

Early win for Emms after an awful blunder from David Cummings.
