Re: World Senior Teams 23 April to 3 May, Crete
In the 65+, England II won that clash against England I.
Nigel did win his game in the 50+ match in round 8.
In the final round (round 9), which starts earlier than the other rounds, England I are playing Wales in the 50+, and as Tim said a bronze is likely. Nigel should secure board 1 gold if he wins (cannot see how anyone else can catch him). Team silver is only possible if Armenia lose to Austria (unlikely). Saint Petersburg have already won gold.

In the 50+ England complete a 4-0 rout of Wales to get the bronze medal behind St Petersburg and Armenia. Nigel gets the best board one performance and in doing so has risen to 2696 on the live ratings and is only 4 points off being a 2700 again at the grand old age of 51.

And leaves youngster David Howell eating his dust after a disappointing final 4NCL weekend.Chris Rice wrote:Nigel gets the best board one performance and in doing so has risen to 2696 on the live ratings and is only 4 points off being a 2700 again at the grand old age of 51.
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

Live ratings have Short at 2696.2 (up 8.2) and Howell at 2692.4 (up 8.4) after the Bundesliga and 4NCL where David gained points in both final weekends

Photos in various places:

Can't link to the individual photos, for some reason.
Oh, maybe I can:
England 1 in Round 1 (50+)
John Nunn
Nigel Short
Stewart Reuben and Keith Arkell
Jon Speelman and John Nunn
Jon Speelman
John Nunn
Keith Arkell
Some other people I recognised:
Sergei Salov
Mike Gunn
Alan Scrimgour
Plus some other England players I recognised but couldn't remember their names...
May have missed a few as well (some pictures weren't that great).

England receiving their bronze medals. I suspect John Nunn may have got dressed in the dark.

It's occurred to me that Israel could put out a useful team next year, headed by Gelfand and Smirin.
