Some minimal information (PDF in various languages) about the World Individual Seniors 2017 is available for download at:

https://www.fide.com/component/content/ ... -2017.html

It looks much the same as two years ago but I have not compared the prices.

Meanwhile we await details about the EU senior individual in Barcelona (August), still not published by the ECU.

ECU have now published details of the European Senior Chess Championships event in Sabadell, Spain August 11-21 2017. I'm reliably informed by Wikipedia that Sabadell is 20km north of Barcelona and is the second biggest city in Catalonia. Hasta la vista.

For those who may be interested, Sabadell is a reasonably pleasant city with a nice market, but otherwise unremarkable. But in August it will be hot, 30 degrees at least during the day.

For chess historians, Sabadell was the location of one of Alekhine's last tournament appearances in 1945.

Round times are 4pm every day with a relatively stringent 15 minute default time.

A bit harsh for those wanting a siesta. Why not one hour?

The mystery surrounding Alekhine's final round game still remains unsolved.....
