Julian Farrand's score of 3/4 in the World Seniors is a good start for a player born in 1935.

Clearly the wine and pasta is agreeing with him.

McKay lost to Rozentalis, while Keith Arkell finally broke the resistance of David Cummings on move 70 and looks to be winning now.

Keith has won now. Winning a Rook and Pawn ending in his usual elegant style.

Keith with a relatively easy pairing in round 6 (a 2161-rated FM Daniel Izquierdo).

Top board clash between Rozentalis and Nikolic.

In the 65+, Craig Pritchett lost to a GM yesterday, but still in the hunt on 4/5.

Keith plays Georg Mohr in round 7. This is eleven rounds, so lots of people still well in contention. The top board clash in the previous round was a draw, so the lead stays at 5.5 points.

Keith Arkell playing the Scandinavian. That's a surprise (well to me it is.)

It is rather unusual for him but as with his some of his other defences to 1 e4 he's exchanged his d pawn for white's e pawn.

Actually, he was just lost at move 24 but Mohr managed to find 26 Bd7 exchanging Bishop for Knight rather than 26 Qc7 which looks crushing. Now Keith has some chances still.

Yes. The first four boards seem to have a transmission problem, they are not working. Unfortunately Keith's board is one of them.
