Just one comment about ratings: I am over the moon to see that FIDE have finally realised that something drastic had to be done in order to bring junior ratings in line, as quickly as possible, with their actual playing strength. Giving juniors a K-factor of 40 means that those of us who play a lot of rated games against juniors will now start to see our ratings normalise.
Because of this, I'm going to put myself on the line here and say that in 6 months time my rating will be a lot more healthy than it is now (2440, for reference, in case anyone digs up this thread next year!)
Took a slight risk there (posted in Sept 2014), but hope 2509 counts as 'a lot more healthy'
Seriously though, I think this junior k-factor 40 thing really has begun to slow down the prevalent rating deflation just in time, before the ripple hit the very top players, and it doesn't seem to have resulted in a plethora of crazily over-rated kids. One or 2 certainly, but that will self-correct.
