I did expect Mickey would win somehow.
There have been quite a few developments and I've updated my site.
The top board in the 50+ seems to have been agreed drawn as soon as they saw the Adams result so there will be a tiebreak between Atalik and Adams which, I suppose, can only be calculated at the end.
Ftacnik has beaten Campora so they finish on 8.5 and 8 respectively. John Nunn is one of four players who can also reach 8.5 to force a tiebreak.
Terry Chapman has lost and Nona has won but she cannot get a medal.
John Nunn has just won so I have to update again...

I saw that though I would prefer to have independent confirmation before updating my website, e.g., from someone who is actually there.
It's not surprising that John is ahead of Ftacnik whose loss came to the Norwegian FM in round 4, so John was generally meeting people slightly ahead.
It's curious that they didn't actually meet in this tournament.
If Campora had drawn then he would have been champion on head-to-head I think?
Mickey had a much narrower tiebreak advantage, so I'm not sure what made the difference.
In the women's R+N beat R again (on board 4) according to Lichess. It looks as if Black must have lost on time,
EDIT: That was after White's move 133. But now Lichess is showing the game continuing after all...
Atalik didn't make any effort to win with White to Godena. Maybe he was under the impression that tiebreaks would favour him because he was leading. He has only himself to blame anyway.

This is ridiculous. In the Krasenkowa-Folkova game, White (with R+N v R) did win after all.
At move 145 Black blundered a mate in 3 but the opponent didn't see it.
So Black gave her another opportunity next move.

Congratulations to England’s Michael Adams and John Nunn, who both became World Senior chess champions yesterday in Terrasini, Sicily, Italy. Despite both being the top seeds in their respective sections, neither had it all their own way.
Michael Adams (pictured on the right) won the 50+ age group, in what proved to be a very strong, competitive field, which included sixteen grandmasters. Adams won with 8½ from 11 and was undefeated and just edged ahead on tiebreak from Serbian grandmaster Suat Atalik who also scored 8.5. This was Adams first-ever individual world title and is well deserved for someone who has been ever-present at the top of World Chess for over 30 years.
John Nunn (pictured on the left) also scored 8½ from 11, thus enabling him to retain the 65+ world senior title he won last year. Nunn also won on tiebreak from Slovakian GM Lubomir Ftacnik, in what was another strong field with ten grandmasters. Although Nunn lost one game, after slipping up in a winning position, his overall play was impressive as always, and he emerged as the deserved winner.
These two successes at the seniors level are further evidence of England’s growing reputation as a leading nation at seniors chess, after our recent successes at both World and European Senior Team Chess Championships.

Great news! The west country has two world champions...
If you include John's problem solving titles, he is now a five-time world champion (unless I have missed some...)

Great double achieved by Mickie Adams and John Nunn!!
Many Congratulations. Mickie finished with a very fine win and john managed a win and then got the right results as well to place him on the top by tie split!
Bad Luck Terry-he put up another stella performance!

Now I don't know if that's a typo for "stellar", or if he were fuelled by lager!
Mickey still lives in SW, just a bit further East I believe.
