The British Seniors Chess Championships 50+ and 65+ will be played in Leicester over 7 rounds from 24-30 July.

seems to give players' ratings at the time they entered but no doubt seedings will be adjusted based on July ratings.

As of today there are 32 entries for the 50+; GM Keith Arkell is top seed since (as observed in another thread) Mark Hebden is playing in the main championship.
Most are ENG-registered but two are Scottish, one Welsh, one Irish, one Guernsey and one German (presumably qualified by long-term residence).

There are 46 entries for the 65+ with FM Terry Chapman (who is now 2248 FIDE after his exploits in the European Seniors last month) topping the list.
These include three from Scotland, two Irish and one Welsh.

Two of the 65+ entrants don't have FIDE ratings so I cannot tell their ages.

After checking the FIDE list I note that 14/44 entrants were born 1948 or earlier so would qualify for a 75+ prize but there isn't one.

Some 65+ tournaments do have prizes for the highest 75+ [correction!] who doesn't win a main prize, so how about it ECF?

There is even a 75+ tournament coming up in Germany in November. Maybe somebody could organise one in England?

Yes of course, failed to spot the typo.
I am requesting a couple of prizes for the highest 75+ who don't win a main prize in the Over 65s.

Not just for this year; it should be every year and part of the announced prizes from the start, as it is for the World Seniors.

As the August BCM reports sole first place for Alan Punnett in the O-65 I feel it right to mention that he shared the title (no play-off or tiebreak) with Sheila Jackson and David Fryer (beneficiary of the last round Terry Chapman default) on 5.5/7. Their starting ranks were 8th, 9th and 29th respectively out of 52.

When the Chess Results site lists final ranking does it apply some sort of tiebreak? BCM probably saw that Alan Punnett was top of the list.

Perhaps Tim could save me the trouble of looking up ages and tell us who would have won the 75+ prize.

Looks like the 1947-born Ivan Myall, who was part of a large tie for fourth.

When the Chess Results site lists final ranking does it apply some sort of tiebreak?

Configurable by the look of it.

If you look at the British O65, you see "TB1" which is obviously total points scored.

If you look at the Elllobregat Open, you see "TB1" to "TB5".

Scroll down to the bottom of both results tables and it gives you some indication of what the tie-break methods were, but not the variant of Buchholz that was applied.
