Good luck also to Gordon Meyer (currently living in Austria), but was a Redhill team-mate for some years, and good luck to forumite, Tim Harding.

Nice pairing in this afternoon's fifth round, Nona Gaprindashvili v Terry Chapman, both on 3.5/4.

Meanwhile, Nunn continues on 100%, impressive games so far.

Today I will request from the organisers a designated board near a fresh air outlet

Because of my asthma related low oxygen/blood levels I get drowsy and my brain closes down when a room full of people isn't ventilated very well.

Organisers of Paignton, the Simon Bartlett Memorial and the South Wales International are aware of this and oblige me. I hope they do here too...

Every venue should be well ventilated as well as well lit. This should go without saying!

Board 15, where I was playing today, was perfect. It is near a half open window and facing a small air vent. The chief arbiter has promised me board 15 for the remaining 6 rounds.

Nunn has Black today against the very solid Jansa - much his toughest pairing so far.
