Yes, the proposed venues for all four FIDE senior events (European and World) in 2024 seem promising and more accessible than some of this year's.

I am therefore starting a new thread for 2024 events and Tim, Ian and Kevin may then like to repeat or expand upon their helpful comments in the new thread?

I don't think there has been any mention yet of the 2023 World Senior Individual Championships.

I'm at Rome airport waiting for my onward flight to Palermo - I assume that most players are already there, but my travel was disrupted by London's airports cancelling flights left and right.

The entry list has not been updated for weeks, I hope that isn't a bad sign. Not even split between 50+ and 65+.

edit : But I'm wrong, new pages exist.

That's an awesome 65+ field, nine GMs and countless IMs, looks like the strongest 65+ ever.

There is a separate thread for this and my reports are posted late each evening at

Yes probably the strongest 65+ yet. I am not playing this year so can enjoy watching it more.
