Re: World Senior Teams 19 to 30 June 2022
The World Senior Team Championships start at 3pm today local time (2pm British time) and the definitive team lists and round 1 team pairings are now posted and as I write this the board pairings just went up.
I have updated my senior news and senior calendar pages at <url>http://www.chessmail.com/seniors/Seniors-news.html</url> and may start a separate page for the championships in a day or two.
Inconveniently, there are now two separate chess-results pages for the two championships, not linked to each other.
50+ is at <url>https://chess-results.com/tnr641917.asp ... art=8</url>
65+ at <url>https://chess-results.com/tnr641925.asp ... art=8</url>
In the first round of the 50+, England 1 play Oslo, and Michael Adams is rested.
Match 6 is England Women v Hungary, match 7 is England 3 v Germany 1, match 8 is Italy Asti Sempre Uniti v England 2 and England 4 play a Dutch team.
Scotland play Acqui Terme and Ireland (headed by GM Baburin) are in match 3 against a Georgian team headed by GM Sturua which includes GM Nona Gaprindashvili and IM/WGM Nana Ioseliani.
Wales SIlures play Italy-1 but Wales Cymru have the bye as they are the lowest seeded of 23 teams.
There is no bye in the 65+ as one team seems to have dropped out.
Israel are top seeds and play a Danish team while England 1 play England 2 in match 2.
Ireland (weakened because our 65+ champion had to switch to the 50+ team) meet a Danish squad. No Scots or Welsh in this event.

David Levy is playing today.
Only the top two matches in each tournament are being shown live and not in a very satisfactory way.
I had to hunt for them:

Re: World Senior Teams 19 to 30 June 2022
So far in the 50+ England-1 are leading 2-0 as Mark and Keith have won.
At first I was confused by the results being displayed above the boards and thought for a moment that they related to the England 1 v England 2 match in the 65s.
Great disappointment here that the organisers only have 16 live boards and are not showing match 3 in the 50+ where Ireland are playing the Georgians. I think that would have been of greater interest than the all-American match.
But disappointment is usually the order of the day when a tournament is run by arcoworldchess,
