Not knowing any German I was hoping this would be one of Nietzsche's aphorisms but alas Google Translate informs me otherwise
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

The team order of the England over 50 first team listed on Chess results is very odd.
1) Emms
2)Adams
3)Arkell
4)Short
5)Hebden
1) Emms
2)Adams
3)Arkell
4)Short
5)Hebden

Bear in mind that John is unbeaten since the 4th of August 2019 - that's nearly 3 years!

Or it could be that we don't have to decide on board order yet

Or it could be that you have decided the board order but don't wish to reveal it yet.Keith Arkell wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 12:36 pmOr it could be that we don't have to decide on board order yet
I'd like to take the opportunity to wish the team every success.

Re: World Senior Teams 19 to 30 June 2022
At all these team events (I have been Irish 65+ captain twice) the final board order (indeed the final composition of the team) is declared at the captain's meeting a few hours before play begins. Most likely John Emms is listed first because he is captain. Some countries do have their players listed in rating order but at this stage it has no significance really.
Likewise the first England 65+ team is listed with the captain Nigel Povah first, followed by Paul Littlewood, Ian Snape, John Nunn and Tony Stebbings in that order. I suspect they are more likely to line up: Nunn-Littlewood-Povah-Stebbings-Snape.

Re: World Senior Teams 19 to 30 June 2022
This event starts in a few days but the organisers arcoworldchess have still not published the regulations for the World Individual Championships which they are due to run in November at Assisi. Normally these details would be available by early May. If they are not published next week there must be serious doubt about whether they will run the tournaments (already postponed from 2020 and 2021).
