It seems difficult to find a list of past English Senior chess champions. The ECF website's history starts only in 2019. I am fairly sure that the first champion was Andrew Whiteley in 2008 in the 0-60 tournament organised by Neil Graham at the Izaak Walton Hotel in Derbyshire. Subsequently the competition was not held every year but there were definitely some winners (e.g. Steve Berry?). I think the e2-e4 congress was an occasional venue.
Britbase has British Senior Champions starting with PC Hoad in 1982. Is there a complete list of English Senior Champions somewhere? I think the title was officially recognised by the ECF before it became one of its tournaments.

It should be sufficiently recent that the detail results are in the grading history.Paul Habershon wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2026 6:53 amBritbase has British Senior Champions starting with PC Hoad in 1982. Here's 2008 for example.

(I tracked this down by looking up Andrew Whiteley's playing history)

A better search might be https://rating.englishchess.org.uk/even ... h%20Senior. If complete that shows that the first event was in 2008 and missing years to date were 2011, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021. It also shows that the event was split into O50 and O65 sections in 2019.Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2026 11:23 amIt should be sufficiently recent that the detail results are in the grading history.

Thanks. This was one of those things that was on our to-do list, but we never quite got around to. I'll see if we can get them added at some point.Ian Thompson wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2026 12:55 pmA better search might be https://rating.englishchess.org.uk/even ... h%20Senior. https://www.ecfresource.co.uk/results/ has some of the missing names.
2011 for example won't show up in the searches suggested because it is only shown as an e2e4 event with no mention of Seniors.
