Next up is the European Senior Individual Championships in Lublin, starting a few days from now.

No British players in the 50+ so far as I can see but quite a few English players in the 65+: Tony Stebbings, Terry Chapman, Brian Hewson etc. Good luck to all.

The European Senior Teams at Dresden, first round 27 October, no British teams yet:

(The 59+ and 65+ entries have not been separated yet in that file.)

The World Senior Individual Championships at Assisi, 11 rounds, first round on 15 November.

The invitation document is available at last and can be downloaded in PDF from my calendar where details of other Senior tournaments can also be found:

Congratulations to both medallists, showing the importance of winning the last round in Swiss system events.

Next up: the European Senior Team Championships at Dresden late October/early November.

Entry fees 100 Euro per team, 60 Euro per player, increasing after tomorrow.
It's not necessary to submit the names of players at this stage, and anyway team composition can be changed later.

List of entries so far at (both age categories in same list at present):

https://chess-results.com/tnr639706.aspx?lan=1

No English or Welsh teams entered yet. Scotland has entered two teams with no specification but presumably one in each tournament.
Ireland is about to submit entries for one 50+ and two 65+ teams.

I have found some senior events not posted in your Calendar, Tim.
There is a brand new event taking place in the UK.

I have been away for a few days, just back last night.
Please send me the details in a PM.
In general, I do not list tournaments that only last a weekend or are clearly for players in some local area or one country. There are quite a few of those on chess-results all the time, but many tournaments only appear there when the event is about to start.
My aim is chiefly to post open FIDE-rated tournaments announced well in advance that people can think about travelling to.
I don't have the time to be constantly trawling for events as you seem to do.
If you want something to watch, the senior team tournaments of the German regions is on at present (morning play) in Magdeburg, and the top two matches in each of the 50+ and 65+ are on chess24.

I assume you mean the Poole tournament. The organisers regard it as in part a replacement for the now discontinued tournaments at the Beacon Hotel in Exmouth.

Interesting - why not 65 instead of 60?

Sorry Tim.
It wasn't a criticism.
I'll post them in the Senior Tournaments in 2022 topic to inform everyone and you can decide whether to add them to your calendar.

That's the main one Roger. I spotted it initially on the Dorset Chess Association website. It's quite handy having the County Chess Associations in the Links Category although the Link for the Hertfordshire and Wiltshire County Associations don't seem to be working at the moment.

My Seniors news and Seniors calendar pages have been updated now, including Poole. I note that the website for the latter doesn't say whether it's FIDE rated.
On the news page there are links to the new chess-results pages for the 50+ and 65+ European Senior Teams showing the players currently declared.
There are now three England teams in the 50+ (the first of which is top seed) and two in the 65+ where England-1 are fourth seeds (no GMs).
Ireland have one team in the 50+ and two in the 65+. Scotland have two in the 65+ only and Wales have not entered.

So far there are eight English entries, plus me, for the World Individual Senior Championships which start two weeks after Dresden ends. Nobody from Scotland or Wales has entered. In total there are 163 entries so far listed but not yet split between the various tournaments (link on my website). Entries do not close for another six weeks so more will probably come in, but perhaps not from people who need a Schengen visa to enter Italy.

I took that to mean that it won't be.

I also saw that the time control has no increment. That is unusual nowadays for long games - I hope it doesn't mean that wind-up clocks will be in use.
