I am sorry to inform you that David Hoddy passed away on 17th July 2023 at Burton Hospital, Derbyshire.
David played for Burton Chess Club in the Derby & District Chess League. He also played for the Derbyshire county teams and in many congresses.
He and his brother John (Derbyshire Chess Association Secretary), started playing chess in 1968 when they joined Oldham Chess Club and played in the Manchester & District League.
They both moved to Burton in the nineties and regularly attended club nights and league matches.
Dave's cremation will take place on Wednesday 16th August at 1pm, Bretby Crematorium, with drinks afterwards at the Grove, off Woods Lane, Stapenhill.
