The sad news was reported that Brazilian Correspondence Chess Grandmaster Joao Carlos de Oliveira died on Sunday 19th February 2023, at the age of 70, after a long illness.
Joao Carlos was born on 9th December 1952, in Sao Paulo, Brazil and learned to play chess at the age of 13, with a friend from high school.
He was an ICCF member since 2002 and became a Grandmaster in 2009.
