Post by Simon Rogers » Wed Mar 15, 2023 7:48 pm

The sad news has been reported that Russian Grandmaster Nukhim Rashovsky passed away yesterday at the age of 76, after a serious illness.
Nukhim was born in Sverdlovsk, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union, on 18th April 1946.
He became an International Master in 1976 and then Grandmaster in 1980.
Nikhim took part in the Russian Championship from 1972 to 1991.
He was twice winner of the Russian Championship in 1974 at Tula and at Novosibirsk in 1976.
In 1982, he tied with David Bronstein for the Moscow Championship.
Nukhim was crowned European Senior Champion in 2007, at Hockenheim, Germany, finishing level on points with Algimentas Butorius but won on tie-break (ahead of Mark Tseitlin and Wolfgang Uhlmann).
Nukhim was also player-coach of Yekaterinburg in the Russian League and the European Club Cup.
RIP

A strong Soviet GM when they dominated the chess world, and had a very long career (games of his appear in the first ever Chess Informant)

Saw him playing at the 1995 Intel Qualifier which was held at GM Conquest's alma mater.
