I am sorry to inform you that Gordon Middlemiss of Great Ayton Chess Club has passed away.
This was reported on the Cleveland Chess Association website:
"As a member of Great Ayton Chess Club he was renowned for his idiosyncratic openings and eccentric play and as a result was christened 'The Tal of Guisborough', this approach left behind many a baffled opponent shaking their heads in disbelief at the manner of defeat. His constant good humour and enthusiasm for the game will be missed."
"His funeral will be at the Guisborough Methodist Church at 12.00pm on Monday 28th November."
RIP
