The sad news has been reported that Spanish International Master, Francisco Javier Sanz Alonso, died on 11th November 2022, in Salamanca, Spain.
Francisco was born on 13th December 1952 in Salamanca, Spain.
In 1971, he was second in the Spanish Junior Championships and in 1973 won the Spanish Chess Championship.
Francisco then became an International Master in 1978.
In 1980 and 1982 he won the silver medal in the Spanish Championship.
Francisco won the Spanish Team Championship in 1974 and 1981.
He played for Spain in the following Chess Olympiads: 1974, 1976, 1978, 1980 and 1982.
