"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Justin,
Sorry to mention typo: he was Nikitin.
I associate his name with Tal from some famous games.

Re: Alexander Nitikin
I think he was also a trainer and second to Kasparov and co-authored at least one book with him. The one I recall was on Sicilian systems with d6 and e6.Roland Kensdale wrote: ↑Sun Jun 05, 2022 7:18 pmI associate his name with Tal from some famous games.

Oh, that's careless. Could somebody do the necessary? (And then delete this.)

Can't the starter (ie you) alter the thread title appropriately?

Re: Alexander Nitikin
I must admit I had not heard of him before.
There is now a Wikipedia entry for Alexandr Nikitin.
Alexandr was apparently the coach of French GM Etienne Bacrot in the late 1990s.
He was also given the FIDE title of International Master in 1993.
RIP

Re: Alexander Nikitin
Today's Dominion Post (main Wellington daily) has a full-page obit for Nikitin, reprinted from The Times. Curious choice for a paper that usually ignores chess entirely from one year's end to the next.
"The chess-board is the world ..... the player on the other side is hidden from us ..... he never overlooks a mistake, or makes the smallest allowance for ignorance."
(He doesn't let you resign and start again, either.)
