I am sorry to report that FIDE International Arbiter from the United States, Myron Lieberman died on 24th December 2021.
Myron was born in 1941. He organised the U.S. Open in 1978 in Phoenix, Arizona.
He earned the titles of U.S. Chess National Tournament Director and FIDE International Arbiter.
Myron served as U.S. Chess national Secretary (1978-81), Treasurer (1981-84), and Vice President (1984-87).
At the time of his death, he also served as Secretary of the U.S. Chess Trust and as U.S. Chess Delegate at Large , as well as Chair of the U.S. Chess Outreach Committee.

The sad news has been reported that Rachel Lieberman, wife of Myron, died on 27th March 2022, at the age of 77.
The funeral service took place in Tempe, Arizona on the 20th April 2022.
Rachel was a former US Chess Policy Board member (now called the Executive Board), serving as Secretary from 1993 to 1998.
She was also active in the Arizona Chess Federation.
Rachel and Myron were among the first to become members and supporters of the first World Chess Hall of Fame in Miami.
