Stan Goodall and I were fellow members of the BCF Management Board in the late 1990s. I didn't always agree with him - far from it - but I always respected him.

He was a tireless worker and campaigner for Manchester chess.

RIP

Stan Goodall was generally present whenever I attended Management Board or Council back in BCF days. Though I do not recall speaking with him (often I was just taking the minutes), I retain impressions of a decent, hard-working, urbane and intelligent man who did a lot of constructive and positive things for Manchester chess. :(
