This was posted on the Welsh Chess Union website on 16th October:
"2021 has not been a good year for Cardigan Chess Club and on 6th October a third stalwart left us. Seamus as he was known to the least respectful in chess circles (and Canon James Cunnane to those most respectful in the Catholic Church), was a member of the club more or less from its beginnings in Llandysul over fifty years ago."
He was also a postal player.
"Seamus' chess career continued into his eighties when he ruled the roost on the Welsh Language internet platform gwyddbwyll.com. Away from the board he was for a period President of the Dyfed Chess Association."
There is a lengthy tribute along with a picture, anecdotes and games on the Welsh Chess Union website.
Thoughts are with Cardigan Chess Club at this sad and difficult time.
RIP

The notice here states:
I feel I would like to know more about this.He was an expert chess player whose cats were all named after Grand Masters.
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."
