It was reported earlier this year that FIDE Master Boris Privman died.
He was born on 7th April 1957 in Ukraine and passed away on Wednesday 7th April 2021, in the USA at the age of 64.
Before moving to the USA, Boris lived in Israel. He studied endgames with IM Moshe Czerniak, who played against three World Champions: Capablanca, Alekhine and Fischer.
Boris played for the famous Marshall Chess Club in New York. He was one of the busiest chess players in USCF history. He played in 3077 rated events since 1998.
He settled in Trenton, New Jersey, in 2000, he achieved a IM Norm at the age of 43 in the New York Open.
Boris had a subtle positional style, which was rock-solid and were always instructive, especially in the endgame.
He was known for playing the exchange Pirc and the Hanham Variation/Black Lion.
Boris was also known for playing the Philidor Defence (1.e4 d6 2.d4 e5 3.dxe5 dxe5 4.Qxd8 Kxd8 5.Bc4 Be6! 6.Bxe6 fxe6). An opening known since the USSR days and black is 100% equal.
He also played Unorthodox chess systems including: 1.b3 e5 2.Bb2 f6!?
