I am sorry to report that Martin Chalmers died on Friday 17th September, at the age of 61.
He was born on the 1st September 1960.
Martin was a long time member of Castlehill Chess Club, Dundee, Scotland.
He was always willing to help everybody especially juniors with their chess.
Martin regularly played in weekend tournaments all over Scotland and the North of England.
Keith Rose posted a lengthy tribute on the Scottish Chess Forum and the Castlehill Chess Club Facebook page along with a picture.
Keith also posted this about Martin:
"He was in a coma for over two weeks brought on by Covid and was on a ventilator which was switched off early Friday morning, but he never woke up."
On a personal note, I believe I played Martin a few years ago in the Scarborough Congress.
RIP
Martin Chalmers
