I am sorry to report that the Indian FIDE Arbiter and national coach Umesh Panbude died on 11th May 2021 from Covid-19 at the age of just 47.
Umesh started playing Chess from the age of 10 and became an outstanding player. He played in many national tournaments and represented the Indian state of Maharashtra. He also represented India in the Asian Cities Chess Championship in the year 2000 in Lebanon.
He took up coaching young players and was the first coach of GM Raunak Sadhwani and GM Swapnil Dhopade, who became India's fourth youngest GM.
Umesh then became an Arbiter and quickly was the Senior National Arbiter. In 2018, he was awarded the title of FIDE Arbiter.
