Very sad to hear of Hamilton's death: as a teammate of his at Pimlico over the last decade, with a grade usually within one or two points of his, I sat on the next board to him many times, and shared many late night pints and tube journeys home after the match, where he was always great company. Over the board, he had an excellent record with some slightly obscure pet openings which surprised many opponents: this win was typical of him, against one of Pimlico's strongest players, Gergely Kiss, in the final round of the 2019 Pimlico summer tournament:
