I am sorry to report the sad news of the recent death of Tom Cox, after a period of ill-health.
Tom regularly played at the Shirley & Wythall club, who play in the Birmingham & District Chess League.
Previously, Tom played competitively for Wythall Chess Club for many years, at least from the early 1980s until the 1999-2000 season, when the club left the BDCL.
In that time, he was Secretary, Team Captain and Chairman.
Tom then joined Shirley Chess Club up until the 2006-07 season. He also played in the Leamington League up until 2007.
His funeral/cremation is due to take place on 8th March.
It was announced on the Birmingham & District Chess League website, by Gordon Christie of Shirley & Wythall Chess Club on 22nd February.
