GM Gildardo Garcia 1954-2021

I am sorry to inform you that Gildardo Garcia has died aged 66.
He passed away on 15th January from Covid-19 in Medellin, Colombia.
Gildardo was born on 9th March 1954 in Colombia.
In 1974, he won the inaugural Pan American Junior Chess Championship.
He was Colombian National Champion 10 times: 1977, 1978, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1995, 2003 and 2006.
In 2006, Gildardo represented Colombia at the Chess Olympiad.
Gildardo's highest rating was 2540 in 1994 and in 2008 he became Colombia's second Grandmaster.
