I am sorry to report that Richard Palmer died on Christmas Day morning in Cardiff University Hospital.
He passed away peacefully after a recurrence of the leukaemia which had first afflicted him in late 2018.
Richard had been in Cardiff for trials of a new drug and, being a scientist, he was keen to help in the development of something that may help others in the future.
Richard was life Vice-President of Downend & Fishponds Chess Club which play in the Bristol & District Chess League.
He was also Secretary for 26 years from 1992 until 2018.
