I am sorry to report that Alex Miller passed away in January this year.
He was found dead at his home after a fall.
Alex played at Chichester Chess Club for over 10 years in in club tournaments and in the Portsmouth and District League.
He played regularly for the B team but also willingly turn out for the A and C teams when requested.
Alex won the club's U130 tournament in 2012 and again in 2017. He also won the Ruth Rose cup, a Portsmouth League Trophy for veterans scoring the highest percentage in their league games.
Alex's family kindly donated his considerable collection of chess books to the club.
There is a lengthy and excellent tribute by Steve Smith, Chairman of Chichester Chess Club in the Sussex Chess News 2020 publication on pages 28 and 29.
