I am sorry to report that David Hurley has died at the age of 61.
It was announced on the Atticus Chess Club website on the 23rd October.
David Hurley sadly passed away during the early hours of 23rd October, following a diagnosis of inoperable stomach and bowel cancer, which he learned of some 12 months previous.
David was born in February 1959 and had been a member of Atticus Chess Club for many years.
He had played for Atticus Chess Club in the Liverpool League which became the Merseyside Chess Association League.
David was a regular player in the Congresses across the North of England, including Blackpool, Preston, Heywood and Scarborough.
There is a lengthy and excellent Epitaph posted on the Atticus Chess Club website on the 24th October.
He will be forever missed.
