I am sorry to report that Keith Smith died in hospital, after a short illness, on 1st November 2019.
The funeral took place on Wednesday 20th November at Stranton Cemetery, Hartlepool.
Keith was a member of Hartlepool Chess Club for many years.
He was the current Treasurer for Hartlepool Chess Club and a regular A team player in the Cleveland and Durham Leagues.
Keith was also the Treasurer for the Durham County Chess Association for a number of years.
He was also the NCCU Club Championship Controller and website manager.
There are a number of tributes on the Durham County Chess Association, Cleveland Chess Association and Yorkshire Chess Association websites.
He will be missed.

At last, somebody I have played in these obituary notices (albeit 32 years ago)

I don't think he was *that* old?
