I am sorry to inform you that David Williams of Wallasey Chess Club passed away back in June.
David originally played for Vauxhalls in the Chester & District League and later for Port Sunlight in the Wirral League.
When both chess clubs ceased to exist, he joined Wallasey Chess Club.
David won the Wallasey CC Major Tournament in 2004 and the Lightning Tournament in 2000.
He would often step in at short notice to play for a Wallasey team and was always delighted to be selected.
