Hi
I have someone who wants to enter a section at the Essex Rapid in two weeks. She has a performance grade in an U14 tournament of 1689 Singapore and she says she got 3rd place in a the 4th Thomson Cup Silver Category (which i cannot find for love nor money online as I think it is a local competition). Not sure that she is suited to U100 or U140. 1689 ELo would put her in the U140. I could play safe and put her in the U120 section. Any thoughts.

Re: Singapore Grades
Is 1689 a FIDE-rating or a national Elo in Singapore? If the latter, do (1689-600)/8, and you'll have an estimate that puts her safely in the U140. In the circumstances, it's the best you can do.

i think it is a Singapore grade so I am hedging my bets for the U140 at the moment
