Re: January Grades are out
Yes they are. They are out later than we would like, but some of the delay is about trying out things for monthly grading. Hence the delay is not necessarily an indication of the new system.
For the first time the rapid list is longer than the standard play version although the result count is about half the standard play count.
This morning the monthly grading methodology has been put on the main website grading section and the FAQ note has been expanded. In the next few days I expect to add 4-digit grades for January to be used for when the new system becomes active.
Plans for monthly grading development were agreed with the Board at the January meeting and we are progressing with these. Anyone who is prepared to help with coding in php would be of great assistance if you could contact me ([email protected]).

So what at present is the planned timescale for both conversion to "ELO" numbers and official monthly lists?Brian Valentine wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 1:09 pmYes they are. First mistake: the Northumberland Rapidplay Championships 2019 has been graded as Standard.
I would have thought the clue was in the name?

Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

The default (when outputting from Checker) is standard - and you have to change the time control manually to rapid. This has caught me out a few times....Brian Towers wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 2:25 pmFirst mistake: the Northumberland Rapidplay Championships 2019 has been graded as Standard.

Re: January Grades are out
An actual mistake, how does my games in 2019 (standard play) show as 41 when I only played 38, and the ECF Grading database website only shows 37.
2019/20 is 21 (100% correct) and 2018/19 shows 16 (1 short), therefore 21 + 16 = 37 NOT 41.
Surely computer programs should not make simple mathematical mistakes like this.

Re: January Grades are out
Another player reported the same issue to me yesterday. He played 31 graded standard play games in 2019 but the "Standard games played, latest 12 months" count on his grading profile web page shows 32... And I've just checked my own figures. I make it that I played 56 graded standard play games in 2019 but my grading profile page has a figure of 58. It may well be incidental but one thing all three of us have in common is that we played games in the Surrey league.John Upham wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 9:39 amWhich games are missing Paul ?Paul Dupré wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 9:02 amAn actual mistake, how does my games in 2019 (standard play) show as 41 when I only played 38, and the ECF Grading database website only shows 37.

Re: January Grades are out
Just had an email from Brian Valentine (ECF Manager of Grading) who is looking into the issue. I know that in my own case I had two results from 2018 included in the 2019 calculation. The two results from 2018 came from two separate leagues.

Re: January Grades are out
There is a problem for some players that we have now identified. I'm not sure how widespread it is and therefore how much work is involved in fixing it, but I will be talking to Matt Carr when he's got back from Gibraltar. The players affected have a few 2018 results included in the latest list - some results should be there (e.g some Hastings results) but others should not.

I seem to be affected as well. Excluding the first 4 games of the 2019-2020 Hastings Masters, I played 125 in 2019 according to my personal database. The ECF grading site has the count as 127.Brian Valentine wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 4:51 pmThere is a problem for some players that we have now identified. An excess of 2 could be consistent with a 4NCL weekend being reported incorrectly.

I’m the other way round (I think). Standard games played in the period (via the detail) 78 - summary page says 76.

All the Derbyshire League grades, although shown as being received, are not included in players' grades from that area. This will affect over 100 players.

Re: January Grades are out
No, same problem as before. 4 Games prior to Xmas 2018 (in Surrey League) now showing up as 2019. Due to Matthew Carr deleting 1st submission, instead of insisting 2nd submission without the 1st submission results. Basically, the current software is not clever enough to understand dates.John Upham wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 9:39 amWhich games are missing Paul ?Paul Dupré wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 9:02 amAn actual mistake, how does my games in 2019 (standard play) show as 41 when I only played 38, and the ECF Grading database website only shows 37.

Also, my opponent last night has duplicate Kent league results (292992C Kolomvas, Dimitrios) from 2019/20 season.
