IOM FIDE Swiss

Post by Roger de Coverly » Fri Oct 11, 2019 10:48 pm

Many of the world top 100 are playing in this. Assuming this event is incorporated into ECF grading or rating calculations, it gives a calibration at the top end as to how domestic grades or ratings compare to international ones. There's something of a caveat that players whose only English chess is international events such as previous Isle of Man tournaments, the London Classic or Gibraltar have actually played to their FIDE rating and continue to do so.

Just to be clear, Roger has started this thread as a grading debate. I thought he was referring to a subsidiary tournament running on the Isle of Man. Maybe Roger could list the players in this event who already have ECF gradings and those who don't. Assuming it is actually being graded for ECF grading purposes (it might well not be). Someone could still do the calculations, in any case.
