Saturdays U160 County match was a typical keenly fought battle, played at the Newcastle-U-Lyme Bridge club... a very pleasant neutral venue.
The best team on the day won.. so well done to Warks and good luck in your future matches.

Firstly I must congratulate David - this must be the shortest post ever from him. Secondly Notts meet Manchester at the same venue next month - plenty at stake in that match.

The Under 140 and Under 100 events are off and running. National U140 Champions Worcestershire maintain their superb form from last season.

Qualifying in the Under 140 remains in the balance after Derbyshire drew with Nottinghamshire. National champions Worcestershire should take one spot but other places are less easy to predict.

In the Under 100, Leicestershire join Nottinghamshire as MCCU qualifiers

In the Under 120, Nottinghamshire's winning run is now 11 matches as they retained their Midlands title whilst Warwickshire improved their position.

Briefly - Warwickshire & Nottinghamshire drew their U160 match yesterday. Both had already qualified for the National stages with Warwickshire taking the MCCU1 spot having scored 4 and a half points on the top five boards.

Nottinghamshire retained their Under 100 title by beating Leicestershire in the decider. Both teams progress to the National stages. The match between Staffs & Warwicks was drawn.

In the Under 120 Championship beaten national 2016 finalists Warwickshire took the second MCCU place whilst Lincolnshire were knocked out after losing to Staffordshire. The third and final nomination will now depend on the match between Worcestershire & Staffordshire in March

Good luck to both in the National stages

G Man beat Cumbria 7.5 - 4.5 in an U160 friendly a couple of weeks ago; more impressively, Cumbria beat Yorks yesterday in the NCCU stages 6.5 - 5.5
